Renewing Communities Program Behavior Policy

Renewing Communities is committed to providing a safe and positive environment for all students in the afterschool and summer program.  The purpose of the Discipline Policy is to ensure that each participant conducts themselves in a manner that will promote an atmosphere that nurtures feelings of respect, safety, and belonging.

Obtaining and maintaining desirable behavior from our participants is a shared responsibility between child, parent/guardian, and RC staff, and partners.

Please review the following general rules and disciplinary consequences that will guide the program. It is imperative that students, parents, and coaches understand the expectations of the policy as well as the potential consequences.

We ask that you discuss the information listed below with your child. We appreciate your efforts and thank you for your continued support in making appropriate behavior a priority for all students!

The following is expected of each participant whether they are in the community, on RC sponsored transportation, or on an offsite field trip.

  4. Show respect for the community, property, and equipment.

  5. Comply with all other regulations set forth by teachers, coaches, and community ambassadors.

  6. Accept every person in the group as an individual and understand that while their beliefs may be different from your own that everyone deserves to be respected and treated equally.  We are promoting tolerance and acceptance.

Participants who choose to continuously cause disruption, are non-compliant, disrespectful or cause harm to others will be disciplined accordingly, as follows:

  • 1st occurrence- Friendly reminders and redirection. We will do everything we can to support all students.

  • 2nd occurrence- If the student’s behavior isn’t corrected or they are causing a problem for the class, they may be placed in a “time out” to cool down.

  • 3rd occurrence- The student's behavior will be documented and a consultation with parent/guardian will be requested to create a plan to improve behavior.

  • 4th occurrence- The student will be removed from class and the parent/guardian will be contacted. If the behavior is corrected the student may return the following scheduled day.

  • 5th occurrence- The student will be dismissed from class for the duration program until or until behavior is corrected. The discussion to allow a student to return is at the discretion of the Community Ambassador.

Students' choices may result in desirable or undesirable consequences such as a reward, redirection, or loss of a privilege.

For more severe or continuous incidents, one or more of the following may result:  consulting with a parent/guardian, suspension, or removal from the program.

Administrative Removal

Administrative Removal - is defined as removing a student from class for the duration of the program.
